    Aji Piper

    Aji grew up in the woods of the Kitsap Peninsula in Washington. From his upbringing Aji developed a deep love and connection to the forest and waters of the Pacific Northwest. His journey in activism began when he learned about oil trains coming through his city and along the coast and he was driven to take part in protests and legislative hearings. He used songs he wrote and his ukulele to speak about environmental issues. He has since served his community by sitting on the Earth Guardians national RYSE council, and serving as the President of Plant for the Planet a nonprofit dedicated to fighting climate change through planting trees.

    Alex is 17 years old and lives in Beaumont, Texas and is both an EG national council member and crew leader. She took her first steps into activism in 2014 on the first day of summer when she heard the news of the fine arts programs being cut from her school; she along with her fellow theatre students got to work. Within two days they had gathered 20 fine arts students, got the attention of the local media, and organized their first rally at the local ISD administration building. After successfully opting out of standardized testing she made her transition into homeschooling, where it became possible for her two passions to meet: art and activism.

    Ben Thouard

    Ben grew up in the south of France where the waves are small and discovered photography at the age of 15 and started shooting his friends who surfed. After learning photography basics in Toulon, Ben then studied in a photography school in Paris. During the next couple of years, he traveled the world alongside professionals in search of photogenic landscapes and waves that has never been surfed before. At 22, he decided to move to Tahiti. Ben quickly made Teahupo’o’s famous wave his backyard and his favorite place to shoot.
    Recently Ben has risen to the top as one of the leading photographers based in French Polynesia. Magazine covers, advertising campaigns, award-winning images from the water and around it has lead to global success and acknowledgment from his peers and many happy clients world wide. He recently released his first solo book ``SURFACE``, a 184 pages, hard cover, coffee table book that includes some very new and unseen images.

The idea for Impossible Foods came to Pat while he was on sabbatical from his position as an HHMI investigator and professor of biochemistry at the Stanford University School of Medicine. In reflecting on how he could use his training and experience to make the largest positive impact on the world, he realized there was a way to make delicious, affordable meat and dairy products, directly from plants – that would be better for the environment and for consumers. She has successfully combined grassroots organizing, environmental advocacy, and environmental health community-based participatory research to become a national leader in advancing environmental policy and the perspective of environmental justice in urban communities — to ensure that the right to a clean, healthy and sustainable environment extends to all. Her work has received broad recognition: the Jane Jacobs Medal from the Rockefeller Foundation for Lifetime Achievement, the 10th Annual Heinz Award For the Environment, the Dean’s Distinguished Service Award from the Columbia Mailman School of Public Health, and Honorary Doctorates from Smith College and Lawrence University.

Barrett witnessed the reality of climate change firsthand, as he was among the many impacted by the climate change fueled super storm, Hurricane Sandy in 2012, which left his family and school without power. Barrett became involved in activism in high school by becoming a member of Global Kids, an organization that focuses on developing leadership skills for youth. Barrett then became a Fellow with the Alliance for Climate Education and spoke at the COP21 UN Conference on Climate Change in Paris in 2015, at the age of 15. Barrett was among 400,000 participants in the People’s Climate March in NYC and delivered a speech at the United Nations General Assembly in support of sustainable development goals.
